Navigating Tomorrow’s Creative Landscape

The Creative Dubai 2024 Impact Report sheds light on the transformative potential of Dubai’s cultural and creative industries (CCI). The Report provides a comprehensive overview of the sector's economic contributions, growth drivers, and strategic opportunities. With a bold vision to enhance its cultural and creative industries (CCI), Dubai is setting the stage for sustainable innovation, economic diversification, and cultural exchange.

 

The Global Creative Economy: A Snapshot

The creative economy contributes 3.1% to global GDP, generating an estimated USD 2.3 trillion in revenue. It employs 6.2% of the global workforce, with young people aged 15 to 29 making up a significant portion.

Leading the way are the top five creative economies globally:

  1. China – USD 234 billion

  2. USA – USD 38 billion

  3. Italy – USD 37 billion

  4. Hong Kong – USD 31 billion

  5. Germany – USD 30 billion


The UAE: A MENA Leader in Creativity

The UAE boasts the largest creative economy in the MENA region, valued at USD 13.7 billion. Its leadership is complemented by the contributions of Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia. The UAE’s investment in cultural heritage, modern infrastructure, and global connectivity reinforces its position as a trailblazer in the creative economy.


Dubai’s Creative Economy: A Growing Powerhouse

Dubai’s creative industries play a pivotal role in the city’s economic and cultural development. The sector contributed:

  • AED 21.9 billion (USD 6 billion) to GDP in 2022, representing 4.6% of Dubai’s total economy.

  • Employment for 175,727 individuals, with design and creative services leading the way.

  • Over 47,544 enterprises, with small and micro businesses dominating the landscape.

This growth is supported by a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and significant foreign direct investment (FDI), with Dubai attracting 898 FDI projects in 2023, nearly doubling from 2022.
